Meet Harvey; an 11 week old black Labrador. A whole day to myself with a puppy is just…well it’s not going to happen is it. However what I lose in a whole day to myself I gain in so many ways. And ways that do and will continue to help me with health and wellbeing. For a start, just look at that face!
In the two weeks he has been with us, he has brought me so much joy. I have smiled and laughed every single day we’ve had him. That’s good for my health and wellbeing straight way. He’s kept me busy-I don’t have time to worry about silly things and I have a little bundle to love.
Very soon I’ll be able to take him out for walks, which I can’t wait for. It will be great for me to have a walk every day and he needs it-he has so much energy!
I am determined to have an obedient puppy so we practice training every day. I think Harvey is simply happy because he gets to eat chicken. In three weeks, he knows his name, come, sit, lie down and stay and he’s house-trained, I don’t think that’s bad going. In our first puppy training class, he was the first one to come back to us when called-so chuffed.
The speed at which he is learning is incredible. Every time he tries something he gets better-including now being able to jump on the sofa!
Then when he’d played, “helped with laundry” and explored new places. He settles down for a nap, which gives me two hours to curl up with a cup of tea and a book. What bliss!
