Every month I plan for the my wellbeing for the following month. Well every month but this month. Confession time, I didn’t do my wellbeing review on the last Wednesday of August. I didn’t do it last week either and worst of all, I’m only writing this now. So what’s been going on?

Life has been busy recently. August was a blur. There has been lots going on;

  • lots of exciting things with my blogging business
  • week’s holiday which was busier than planned
  • family ups and downs with exam results, college and uni places and even a hospital stay.

Life gets in the way sometimes. I know it shouldn’t but I know what it is like when it does. Things have slipped and I have to be open and tell you.

Simply Shine-Self-Care

So what am I going to do?

Well I’m actually going to give myself a breather.

I don’t want to set goals to just go through the motions  or to keep up appearances. It is important for me to be authentic and be honest with you. We’re in this together!

So for the next couple of weeks, I’m taking the pressure off. Sometimes you need to take a break, relax and just breathe. So I am not going to be setting any targets or goals for now. I will still be looking after my self-care, of course but with a different twist.

Basic Rituals and Practices

So I’m taking the pressure off and giving myself a break of anything more structured. Hoping to end September feeling lighter and in control.

Do you ever get those times when life gets in the way of what you want to do? What do you put in place?

  1. Giving yourself grace is easily one of the hardest things to do. To allow yourself to step back and say “I need a minute” and focus on you and practicing what you preach – it tough. I’m proud of you for doing it, thank you for sharing, so we all may be reminded to do it for ourselves too!

  2. I should really do something like this. Sometimes It just feels like I’m on auto-pilot…

    1. I am not a fan of the auto pilot feeling. I feel settled and in control with goals and things to work towards. Hope you find further inspiration on the blog

  3. Great tips! Reading in the morning is the one I needed and didn’t know I needed. I try to read a little at night, but usually so sleepy by the time I pick up a book, that I barely get a couple pages read. But reading in the morning will be added into my morning routine. Thanks!

    1. Hope it is going well

  4. I love that you’re including your daily step goal as part of your self care practice! Exercise is such a big one for me although I do need to get better at hitting my steps.

  5. These are great self-care ideas. I definitely want to start doing a step goal, too!

  6. These are great things to do for self-care! I would love to have more time to read. Hopefully, in the next few months I will make more time. Good luck with your step goal!

  7. Oh my, I can definitely relate! I’m reminded of the quote, “Life is what happens when we’re making other plans!” I do like your idea of setting monthly self-care goals. I feel like this is something I need to do for myself, as well, In fact, I have THOUGHT about it for a long time. Just haven’t DONE anything about it, like write it down and then implement it.

  8. My August is a blur, too. I’ve also drifted away from a lot of my routine. I like your idea of taking a break and relieving pressure. Small, manageable self care is the way to go for the rest of September. 🙂

    1. Absolutely! I hope you enjoyed your September. Have you set goals for October?

  9. Yes, I totally get where you are coming from! Sometimes you need to give yourself a second to just catch up with it all without setting new goals or putting added pressure on yourself.

    1. That’s exactly where I was. I am slowly moving away from that now though.

  10. Love your basic rituals and practices. 3 litres of water a day would be a great start, aiming for it. Thanks for sharing ♥️ ♥️ By any chance you are interested on doing collaborations, you can check out the collaborations portal of Phlanx.com and connect with amazing brands!
